Welcome Party

The soft opening. Show up, meet everyone, have a drink in the Tuscan hills. No itinerary, no agenda — just the kind of evening that makes you realize you should've come to Italy sooner.

TUESDAY · JULY 7

The Wedding

Ceremony, dinner, dancing. All of it outside. All of it at a castle surrounded by vineyards. It goes long and that is very much the point.

REST WELL

Where to Stay.

All under 15 minutes from the venue. The Tuscan countryside at night is dark and the roads are narrow, so staying close means you can actually enjoy the evening without watching the clock.

AGRITURISMO INALBI

A working farmhouse with serious charm. Think olive groves, stone walls, and breakfasts that ruin you for any other breakfast. The closest thing to staying inside the vibe.

HOTEL VILLA CESI RESORT & SPA

A full resort in a Tuscan villa with a spa. If you're making this a whole thing, as you should, this is how you do it. Easy in, easy out, with a pool in between.

Getting there, and getting around.

THE AIRPORTS

Florence (FLR) The closest at 30 min. Smaller airport, easier vibe.

Pisa (PSA) About 1 hour out. Usually has more direct options from the US via Europe.

Rome (FCO)About 3 hours. Worth it if you want to tack on a few days in Rome. Highly recommended, honestly. Train from here to Florence.

PASSPORT

US citizens don't need a visa for Italy under 90 days, but your passport needs to be valid for at least 6 months past your travel dates.

DATA & SIM

Grab an eSIM before you leave if you’re phone isn’t leased and you own it. Either WindTre or Vodafone. Both easy setup, solid coverage, and you'll want data for Google Maps the second you get on those countryside roads.

T-Mobile, Verizon AT&T also work well internationally if you already have them, you just need an international plan.

GET A RENTAL CAR

Not optional if you're staying in the countryside. Taxis don't really exist out here.

Book an automatic early - Europe runs on manual and automatics go fast for American drivers.

Avoid ZTL zones in Florence city center. The cameras are real and the fines will find you at home.

EUROS & CARDS

Italy is Euro territory. Tell your bank before you leave. Keep some cash for small spots that don't do cards, especially out in the countryside.

JET LAG IS REAL

Italy is CEST UTC+2 in July. Six hours ahead of Eastern, nine ahead of Pacific.

Arrive a couple days early. Reset. Explore. The jet lag becomes part of the atmosphere if you let it.

Italy operates on Italian time. Dinner starts late, everything runs slow, and somehow it all feels exactly right. Don't rush it. You're not supposed to.

Chianti Wineries

You are literally in wine country. Book a vineyard tour. Drink Chianti Classico where it was born. There is no better version of this experience anywhere else on earth. Do it.

DAY TRIP

Siena

A medieval hill town frozen mid-century. The Piazza del Campo is one of the best public squares in Europe. Go in the morning. Beat the heat and the crowds.

BEST ADVICE

Get Lost

Rent the car, pick a direction, drive until something looks interesting. Eat wherever smells good. Stop at every viewpoint. This is the Tuscan countryside. You genuinely cannot do it wrong.

RIGHT OUTSIDE

Impruneta & Chianti

You're literally in it. Drive through Chianti's vineyard roads, wander Impruneta's market square, stop whenever the view looks good. It always does.

DAY TRIP

San Gimignano

Thirteen medieval towers, a tiny wine-stained square, and an internationally award-winning gelato spot. The drive through the hills is half the point.

  • Think elevated, not stuffy. Linen suits, tailored trousers, blazers for the guys. Midi and maxi dresses, sleek jumpsuits, anything that looks like you tried without looking like you tried too hard. It's a Tuscan castle in July — lean into the moment. The cobblestone paths are beautiful and uneven, so if you're wearing heels, bring a backup pair of flats or wedges you can actually walk in.

  • Hot. Like, actually hot. Tuscany in July runs around 90°F (32°C) during the day with warm evenings around 70°F (21°C). The ceremony and dinner are mostly outdoors. Dress for it. A light layer for late night is never a bad call.

  • Book yourself using our list — no official block. More flexibility for you, but it also means no one's holding rooms. Move on it when you're ready to commit to coming.

    P.S. €” TRAVELING WITH A GROUP? LA QUERCIA ESTATE HAS MULTI-ROOM OPTIONS. WORTH LOOKING INTO EARLY.

  • Not at all. But learning a few words genuinely makes the trip better — people appreciate it. "Grazie" (thank you), "per favore" (please), "un caffè, per favore" (a coffee please), and "il conto" (the check) will carry you almost everywhere. Most places in the Florence area have English, but deeper in the countryside, effort counts for a lot.

  • Note them on your RSVP when invitations go out — the caterers are on it. Tuscan food is naturally great for vegetarian and gluten-friendly diets. You will be fed, and fed well.

  • Yes. The venue is in the hills, ride shares don't really exist out there, and you don't want to be problem-solving logistics at the end of a great night. Having a car means total freedom — to come when you want, leave when you're ready, and explore Tuscany on your own timeline. If driving abroad feels like a lot, coordinate with someone at your hotel. Split it.
